Book List
All of the books for this month were liked by those who read them. Yay!
A note: if you get the ebook version of Tempest Rising by Nicole Peeler, I found the formatting in the eReader version from fictionwise.com to be horrendous, and I was unable to read it. Ellen on the other hand had the Kindle version and it was fine.

Book List
Brian read Midnight's Daughter and liked it. He commented that it was better written than then first three Cassandra books by the same author, the main character wasn't whiny, and it tied in well with story references to the other books.
Ditto read and Tracey "Elained" Red-headed Stepchild. Ditto liked it better than Tracey and gave it a minimal recommendation. He thought the author's twist on vamps was different enough to set it apart a bit despite mediocre plot and writing. Tracey got distracted along the way, but was at least interested enough to read the end to find out what happened.
Ditto also read Gabriel's Ghost and Tracey had just started it. Both thought the Sci-Fi world was very well done, especially for an author who is primarily romance. Ditto pointed out that there is sex in the book. He also mentioned that he would probably read the other books in the series.
Tracey called for members to come up with a quote or favorite line from each meeting's books and "bring" to book club next time to share along with the book's discussion.

Book List Updated
Ditto mentioned that The Atrocity Archives by Charles Stross was his first published book, and if you can get past the first 40 pages or so, it is pretty good. Ditto also mentioned that other books of his have ties to the world laid out in this book and the agency known as "The Laundry".
Allie liked The Accidental Sorcerer. If I remember correctly, she commented that it was dark, but also that it was humorous. A second book is out at the end of June, and the first book is now available in eBook formats (see updated book list for links).
Kitty and the Silver Bullet had much discussion, along with comparisons to Patricia Briggs and Kim Harrison with Jim Butcher and Laurell K. Hamilton thrown in. Tracey commented that she might have liked the Kitty series better if she had not read Briggs and Harrison first, but there were many comments that the Kitty series gets better as it goes along. FYI: this is the fourth Kitty book to make it into the reading list.
In other news:
- Simon R. Green's The Spy who Haunted Me is out June 2. This is the third Edwin Drood book (Secret Histories)
- Marjorie M. Liu's sequel to The Iron Hunt is out June 30, and is titled Darkness Calls
- Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress book 4 is out July 28, and is titled Destined for an Early Grave

Books added, some eBook links updated
Cauldron was recommended with reservations: Ditto likes his ideas and such, but finds his characters to be flatter than he likes.
Dragonspell was referred to as "Dismal" by Tracey. It is a Christian Allegory, and it was commented that it felt like it was intended for 5 year old children. I don't think any of the three that started this finished it.
Peacekeeper was praised for its character depth and complexity by potential member Cass, and it was recommended by those who read it but be warned that this is a first outing by the author and the first 40 - 70 pages are pretty rough going. Ditto commented that it really improves after that.
